Here are a selection of current projects and deployed solutions from A4L Community members

Current Projects / in development

  • Application Vetting and Contracting

The Privacy Contract Framework project is focused on the development a framework for identifying solutions that have on-the-ground and real-world impact on student data privacy enabling schools, districts, state and vendors find resources, adapt them to their unique context and implement needed protections.  To do this, states have developed “Alliances” to collectively develop and share common privacy contract language to streamline contracting and set expectations between end user and marketplace providers.  The Alliance picture is impressive!

  • A Digital Ecosystem Decision Support Tool

The Digital Tools Governance project centers around developing a comprehensive framework for aligning a school system’s policy landscape, strategic programming, tactical processes, and accountability mechanisms to support the system’s vision of how its digital tool ecosystem will advance its overall mission and goals while minimizing its risks of data privacy and security incidents.

  • Connecting the “Last Mile” of Application to the Local Digital Ecosystem

With each state and the federal government focusing more and more on student privacy and student safety, the legal, technical, and fiscal processes to implement new software can be overwhelming.   The “Connect” project’s focus is to see how many of these steps can be standardized, automated, or establish effective practices so we all are not starting from scratch each time. The goal is to streamline application selection, vetting, on boarding (sharing properly protected data elements), and final implementation with marketplace norms.

  • Integrating Assessment systems into the classroom ecosystem

The integration of assessment systems into the classroom ecosystem represents a key component in creating a fully developed picture of the learner.  Assessment information is critical in depicting where a learner is in their progression, where we collectively want them to be and design a path to get them there. The A4L community has recognized this and prioritized focus in assessment systems as one of the organizations highest goals.

  • Want a K12 Community Developed Rostering Solution?

In education, the “roster” is a fundamental building block of instruction, assessment, and administration. Typically, a roster specifies the teacher and the list of students in a program, class, or section of an organization and they enable teachers to manage and teach students as members of a group. For example, by giving privileges to a roster, then all students listed on the roster may automatically access the materials and assessments assigned to the class.

  • Setting Expectations on Individualized Education Plan (IEP) Development

Individualized Education Plans, or IEPs, are critical for learners, practitioners and parents who provide tailored learning opportunities for students with special needs —and are required by federal law.  Over 3 years, the A4L Community undertook the challenge to gather experts in IEP development and usage and link them to IEP application vendors to create a standardized transportable IEP data definition that could address some IEP challenges...
